Lush Sacred Lotus Bath Bomb - Oxford Street Exclusive | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Lush Sacred Lotus Bath Bomb - Oxford Street Exclusive

Hope you all a wonderful Christmas, and hope you all have an amazing New Year. 2016 is nearly here!

I visited the gorgeous Lush store in Oxford Street in early July, I haven't gotten through everything yet (I spent so much there...) Guilty as charged...

I wanted to try this beautiful bath bomb, and when I saw it I couldn't resist putting it in my basket, not only does it have a beautiful and unique shape but it smells divine (Very floral and very fresh!) some of the fresh, floral fragrances in this beautiful bath bomb include Jasmine, Neroli and Tonka.

The colours are so vivid! You have a lovely purple, and a lovely yellow! It has a few flecs of glitter, which sparkle beautifully.

From the second you drop it in the bath it fizzes pretty quickly, it starts spewing out the beautiful purple, it doesn't take long before the yellow spews out and the smell is divine. So floral!

It bounces off the bath quite slowly, and does eventually slow down. It takes about 4-5 minutes to completely dissolve into the bath water.

The bath water ends up a beautiful pink colour, the petals look beautiful floating around on the water. The smell doesn't last, but you can smell it on your skin for hours after drying, and it would go perfect with a floral/fresh perfume. I got a lot of compliments from friends asking where my perfume was, it was actually the smell of this on my skin!

I highly recommend this, if you visit the Oxford Street store you MUST try this!! The colour doesn't cling to the bath, which is a blessing in itself.

Lifestyle Blog: Working at McDonald's UK for Three and a Half Years | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Working at McDonald's UK for Three and a Half Years

I started working at McDonald's when I was sixteen years old, which was in 2010. I applied for the job the day after my sixteenth birthday (16th February 2010) and I heard back from them whilst I was in an ICT lesson in school in late February. The offered me an interview the next week. I dressed smart but casual, I was myself but was nervous as I'd never interviewed for a job before and didn't really know what to expect. I was asked the basic questions - "What would I bring to the company?" "How am I working in groups?" "Do I think teamwork is important in the workplace" - I answered honestly and the best I could. I didn't have any grades at this point as I was due to do my GCSE's in about two-three months time, plus I had a three week holiday coming up to Orlando in June. We discussed how she didn't want to let me go as a possible employee and asked me to call when I got back from the States and had finished and picked up my GCSE's.

I picked my GCSE's on June 11th 2010, and left for Orlando on June 15th 2010. I came home July 6th and I called them July 7th. My heart sank when it took the lady who interviewed me a good 5-10 minutes, but once she did she offered me a date for orientation on the 11th July. I got over the jetlag fast, and arrived for orientation early in the morning. I was taught basic customer skills, the till system, drinks and other basic information. I wasn't going to be in the kitchen (which was a relief because I saw some of the burns some of the guys in the kitchen had from the grills.)

My first shift was on the 18th July 2010, I was on the Drive Thru taking orders - from the day I started to the day I left, the Drive Thru was my favourite. I learnt the till pretty fast, within weeks I was taking orders on one screen and taking money on the other till at the same time.

The store I worked at was open 24 hours, so I'd get loads of different shifts, ranging from 6am-3pm, 12pm-9pm, 5pm-10pm, 3pm-9pm and even overnights which were 9pm-6am. For the first year or so I was on solid 6am-3pm shifts, and I got used to those pretty quickly. I was only working there part time, but there was the odd time I'd be working full-time weeks, which I didn't mind too much.

I made friends there, and got on quite well with nearly everyone, but did try to keep myself to myself - after all it is work. I had a few issues as well, but that was with a colleague outside of the work place, and after it happened I did everything to avoid this individual as I honestly found him disgusting. I wish I'd gone to my boss and got us put on opposite shifts. (Definitely gonna stop going on about him now, not worth blog space.)

My shifts took a strange turn, and I got a lot of mixed ones (One day I'd be doing 3pm-9pm, the next I'd be on a 6am-3pm) it got confusing, but it was alright - as long as I was getting money I didn't really care. When I started, I was on £4.25 an hour. When I turned 18 I went up to £5 an hour. I didn't earn barrels of money, but I was contented at the time with what I was earning.

I had a lot of friends, but there was a lot of bitchy people there, people who thought they were better than the job and everybody else wasn't. You'd just ignore them and try and get on with the day.

The customers were so-so. You had your lovely regulars, you know what they wanted to order when you saw them. And then there would be the rude customers - which I physically couldn't stand but had to, after all it's my job - having someone come through the drive thru saying something like "I want a burger, with chips and a drink" *sigh* What burger and what drink? Why do you have to make my life so difficult? How about please's and thank you's? Weren't you taught any manners? So my response would be "Which burger would you like?" The reply? Well, this did happen a fair few times... "I want a cheeseburger.. With no cheese" Known as a hamburger in the normal world, but hey the customers always right... Right? (NOPE

Then there was the uniform, I started when they still had the brown uniforms and apart from the annoying hats, they were comfortable.

Here is a photo from 2011, with a work colleague in the original uniform.

This was taken on the 21st February 2013, my first day of the new uniform (I'd just returned from my birthday holiday to New York)

The trousers were also green, like a dark yucky looking green. (Baby shit green... lol) It was horrible compared to the old uniform.

The reason I quit was my hours were cut ridiculously, I was only getting four to six hours a week, which is one shift... I couldn't afford to go to work, the cab would cost £6-£7 each way so it became a joke, plus I felt bullied by one of the managers. (Who cut my hours) I didn't ask for the hour cut, and I kept asking numerous times for them to be re-instated normally, to a comfortable 16-24 hours a week. But, nope... Never happened.

I quit in July 2013, my reasons being them cutting my hours way too much for me to afford, and management bullying.

I loved the job, and would work at another store - I do miss working there (From 2010-2012 time) from then it was bad...

Lush Cosmetics: Let The Good Times Roll Face And Body Cleanser | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Lush Cosmetics: Let The Good Times Roll Face and Body Cleanser

My 40th Blog Post!!

I use Let The Good Times Roll as a facial and body scrub. It is a gentle exfoliant, which smells like buttery popcorn.

You mix the product with water to make a paste, and then massage into the face or body and then rinse off with warm water.

Let The Good Times Roll was originally realised as a limited edition Christmas product in 2012, and then it returned on the shelves to stay in 2014. (I believe)

It is a very good cleanser, but doesn't completely remove dry skin though. However, it isn't very drying either so would probably be better for normal skin types.

Another major downside to this cleanser is the pieces of popcorn that are inside it. They're just an annoyance - and they are off course an irritant to the skin, being sharp, scratchy and honestly, they are just pretty useless. I also found loads of pieces of kernel skins, which I scratched myself with a few times, not noticing they were there. A complete pain in the backside!

I'd say overall, this product is okay. It cleanses the skin just fine, but has quite a few let downs and there are much better cleansers that I already use. Which I will be sticking to in the future.

This 100gram pot costs £6.95, you can also buy a 250gram pot for £17.35. To all my American readers you can buy a 3.5oz pot for $12.95 and a 8.8oz pot for $31.95. In Canada, they are the same price in 100gram and 250gram pots.

Lush Cosmetics: Ultrabland Facial Cleanser | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Lush Cosmetics: Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

Me and my boyfriend Mark have been together 38 months today (Three years, two months) Happy Monthversary Lovely! <3

Also, my 40th blog post! Woooo! :D

Today, I will be reviewing the famous, but vastly overlooked Ultrabland. I wanted a cleanser that was going to help with my very dry skin, that I was going to use before make-up applications. The lady helping me in Lush suggested Ultrabland, which is an oil based beeswax and rose cream cleanser.

I was concerned about using such an oily product on my skin, because I was worried about blocked pores and breakouts. I have been using this product for around nine weeks, and I haven't had any serious breakouts (Only during that awful Time Of The Month) but no product in the world is going to sort out raging, female hormones. (Unfortunately)

I agree with what the pot says. It is ultra effective, and this is now part of my night time routine. I cannot live without this product now. My skin feels like a babies bum. Soft, smooth and breakout free!

The product is very thick. And a little goes a long way! You apply it to damp skin and rub it around problem areas, and all around the face. You then remove with a warm flannel or cleansing pads (cotton pads, sponge pads.) I then use the Lush Skins Shangri La Facial Moisturiser. (The link is to my blog post about the moisturiser)

The main ingredients are rose water, almond oil, fresh iris extract and honey. Rose water is calming and soothing, almond oil for hydration of the skin, (and hair) fresh iris extract is aromatic and soothing and honey is deeply moisturising and antiseptic.

I also use Ultrabland as a makeup remover, and it is fantastic at removing make up. It is an all around great product.

My skin has never looked this good, and I'm going to try leaving it on for a while whilst I get ready for bed.

This is a 100gram pot, and costs £11.95. You can also buy a 45gram pot for £7.50. For what it does, I think it is a great price!

For all my American readers, you can buy a 1.5oz pot for $17.95 and a 3.5oz pot for $29.95. In Canada, it is the same price for a 45gram and 100gram pot.

Lush Cosmetics: Happy Hippy Shower Gel | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Hope you all had a great night yesterday for Guy Fawkes Night! (Bonfire Night, Firework Night)

Lush Cosmetics: Happy Hippy Shower Gel

My all time favourite Lush shower gel is Snow Fairy, which is of course Seasonal and it is a Christmas product, which breaks my heart. It's okay though, I stock up on it - so by the time the next Christmas comes around I'll just be running out, and it'll be time to stock up again!

I wanted to try another shower gel, and I saw Happy Hippy. The ingredient that interested me the most was the grapefruit. I don't like grapefruit, but know that it's great for waking up - so I thought that along with our power shower would be a great morning wakeup. I went for the 100gram bottle which cost me £3.95, I wanted to try it before buying the bigger bottle. It does smell lovely, very fruity and zesty and it did do a good job. I didn't need much, and I could smell it on my skin afterwards. Mark noticed it as well, and really like the citrus smell.

The main ingredients are fresh pink grapefruit juice, bergamot oil and frankincense oil. So, that's where the fresh, citrusy smell comes from. It is good for my sensitive skin, which I was impressed with. I may buy the bigger bottle of this, if I fancy a scent change from Snow Fairy. You can buy Happy Hippy here

For all my American readers, you can buy a 8.4fl oz bottle for $19.95 and a 16.9fl oz bottle for $29.95. The prices are the same in Canada, for a 250ml and a 500ml bottle.

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter | Lisa's Beauty Spot

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

Wow, I can't believe it's November... Where has this year gone?!

I have been using products from The Body Shop for around six to seven years, mainly there Body Butters and Body Polishes. My favourite products being the Strawberry Body Butter and the Strawberry Body Polish.I need to repurchase both as I just run out. Honestly though, I do love all of the strawberry range, and I highly recommend it!

I find this Shea Body Butter fantastic for use on my elbows and legs. I use it after I've shaved my legs, and I've found it quite soothing. It is deeply moisturising, and it smells lovely. It says on the tub that it is for very dry skin, and I agree! And it does help with dry patches!

It is now in a new style of packaging, so it looks a little different now. But it's still the same product. It can be purchased here or at your local Body Shop store. It comes in two sizes, 200ml which costs £14 and 400ml which costs £28.

For all my American readers, you can buy a Mega Sized Shea Body Butter (13.5oz) for the sale price of $21.60. (Normally $36) You can also buy a Mini Shea Body Butter (1.7oz) for the sale price of $4.20. (Normally $7) Bargain! And great if you want to try before buying the bigger size!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN | Lush Cosmetics: R&B Hair Moisturiser | Lisa's Beauty Spot

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL MY LOVELY READERS ALL OVER THE WORLD! (WELL, TOMORROW ANYWAY)

Lush Cosmetics: R&B Hair Moisturiser

R&B Hair Moisturiser is like a body butter for your hair. It's a deeply moisturising and smells fresh and fragrant. You can put it on wet or dry hair.

I suffer with very dry, tightly ringleted hair which is prone to frizziness and being really knotty. When I went into Lush, I explained to the lady who was helping us and told her I was looking for a product to help tame my locks! She went straight over and grabbed this product, calling it a saviour for curls. I decided I wanted to try it. It's a 225gram pot, and costs £20.75. You can get a smaller pot (100gram) for £11.95 and a bigger pot (450gram) for £34.95. The main ingredients are oat milk. organic avocado butter, orange flower absolute and extra virgin coconut oil.

I found the product to be highly hydrating, which impressed me. When I run out of this, I will defiantly be buying the bigger pot. I tried two different hair styles, tighter curls and looser curls. Both styles went well after applying the product after washing my hair, and I put it in my hair whilst it was still wet.

It is light yellow in colour and quite a thick, consistency.

Looser Curls

Tight Curls

For all my American readers, you can buy this product in a 3.5oz tub for $24.95 and a 7.9oz tub for $42.95. They are also the same price in Canada, in 100gram and 225gram pots.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution In Shade Glastonberry | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution In Shade Glastonberry

I don't post blog posts on Tuesdays, but I was so excited for this product arriving, I had to share it with you.

This is Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Long Lasting Lipstick in shade Glastonberry, which is a beautiful berry-plum shade. I have been wanting this for a while, and Mark bought it for me as a present. I was so, so excited and when it arrived Monday morning, I was practically running around the house squealing.

I'd heard a lot about this lipstick, and I recently started wearing berry shade lipsticks so I wanted to try one of a decent quality. I watched Zoe Sugg's video Autumn Makeup, and I saw this lipstick and wanted it so badly. It glided on perfectly, and has long lasting qualities and just looks so, so pretty!

It smells like vanilla, and the formula is amazing. It has a new cashmere-cream texture and has a matte finish. It is enriched with papaya and orchid which is hydrating and it has glowing pigments for fuller looking lips.

I bought this product from John Lewis for £23. Which is the same price as the Charlotte Tilbury website. I was nervous about purchasing this product, as it is on the high end of the price scale, but Mark said he'd buy it for me as a gift and I was so happy and excited!

And here it is on me. I love it and can't wait to do a full makeover look with this lipstick (Excuse my messy hair and my thick messy brows!)

You can purchase this lipstick in John Lewis, the Charlotte Tilbury website and Selfridges. All the same price, £23.

For all my lovely American readers, you can purchase Glastonberry on the US Charlotte Tilbury site for $32. For all my Canadian readers, you can purchase this product on the Canadian Charlotte Tilbury site for $38. For all my lovely Irish and European readers, you can purchase this product of the EU Charlotte Tilbury site for €30. Finally, for all my Australian readers you can purchase this from the AU Charlotte Tilbury site for $48.

I'm looking forward to wearing this look, I love berry lips!

Boots Extracts Gift Set | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Boots Extracts Gift Set

My 35th blog post!

I was given this gift set last Christmas, I'd heard about the Boots Extracts products and was curious about trying them, so was excited to get them as a present.

The set comes with four Boots Extracts products. A strawberry body wash, a cocoa butter body butter, a vanilla body spray and a coconut body scrub. They are all travel sizes.

The strawberry body wash kind of smells like strawberry milkshake. It's a very artificial strawberry smell. When used, it leaves the strawberry smell on your skin, it made my skin feel reasonably soft afterwards. The bottle is 75ml. If you would like to buy the full sized product, it can be bought from Boots here. You can also get in the same scent a body spray, a body scrub, a body butter and also a gift set with just this scent.

This cocoa butter is my favourite product out of the whole gift set. I was excited to use this, it smells lovely and has a nice thick consistency as you'd expect from a body butter. I normally use it after bathing and showering. Now that the colder months are here, I will be applying this a lot more regularly along with other moisturising products. You can buy the full sized product here. There is also a sugar scrub and a body wash with the same scent.

I was excited to try this vanilla body spray, it's more like a body mist though. It has a very sickly smell and I don't really use it that often. I was quite disappointed in this product, as I heard about this spray and had heard great things about how nice it smelt, so I researched it online and found out that this and the other products in the vanilla range had replaced the original vanilla range, which was apparently so much better. You can buy the full sized product here. You can also get a body scrub, a body butter and a body wash. You can also buy a vanilla gift set. There is also this trio of body sprays available.

This coconut body scrub was also disappointing. It didn't make any difference to my skin what-so-ever. I have only used it the once, and will try it again but it was a disappointment. It is a 75ml bottle. You can buy a full sized pot of this coconut body scrub, you can get a body butter and a body wash

The only product I will be re-buying is the cocoa butter body butter. The rest were a severe disappointment, but I'm glad I got to try them.

This gift set is no longer available, but I found three other gift sets similar to this one. I also found a Christmas gift set, which includes a mango and a spiced apple set. There are more gift sets available, some seasonal and some not.

Lush Cosmetics: Skin's Shangri La Facial Moisturiser | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Lush Cosmetics: Skin's Shangri La Facial Moisturiser

I was so happy when I discovered this amazing moisturiser. For years I have struggled with very dry and very tight feeling skin. I've tried many moisturisers and have been very disappointed, with them all having little or no effect on my dry skin. I went on a huge Lush haul a few months ago, and included in that haul was Skins Shangri La Facial Moisturiser. I'd heard about it from a few friends blogs, and how impressed they were with the product.

I was skeptical at first - priced at £29.50 for a 45gram pot, it puts a dent in your bank account. But, I can honestly say... This is the holy grail of facial moisturisers. And, I'm not surprised. Nearly everything I have tried (Apart from a few bath bombs I've tried and haven't really liked or gotten on with) from Lush is so luxurious and fresh smelling, and has been fantastic for my skin.

Some of the ingredients in the product include Queen of Hungary Water, which is toning and fragrant. It is made with water, rosemary and vodka (27 shots of Vodka in each 45gram pot) There is also beeswax, fresh wheatgrass juice, organic jojoba oil, seaweed, Fair Trade Aloe Vera Gel, Fair Trade Almond Oil, Fair Trade cocoa butter, extra virgin coconut oil and a vanilla blend.

To use: After cleansing your face, place a five pence size (one cent coin) of the product on your fingers, and gently rub into the skin. A little goes a long way. I use this as part of my night time routine every night now, and the difference in my skin has been amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing how much this product helps my skin in the colder weather, which is just around the corner.

I really recommend this product if you have dry skin that you haven't found the answer for, it'll be the best £30 you've ever spent and can be bought here. For all my American readers, this product costs $49.95 for a 1.5 oz pot and can be bought here.
