Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Paint | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Paint

I decided to try out these 'Gelly' polishes when I had my first Shellac manicure taken off. I didn't have another £30 to have it re-done that week, so I went into town to find something else to keep me going over the next two or so weeks... I haven't looked back, this was back in 2014!

I went into Boots and purchased this product in the shade 'Papaya' - I thought it would be great for summer!

I'm now on my second bottle and I love it every bit now as I did back in 2014!

I am a huge Barry M fan! I love the wide variety of colours and styles (I fell in love with there crackle nail polish! I'll have to dig the photos out of when I was using it)

This nail paint does remind me of how shiny a gel manicure is! It doesn't last 2-3 weeks, I've got a week out of it, with no chips! Which is fantastic!

Here's a picture of the back of the bottle, instructions and how many ML's is in the bottle.

Here is a picture of my finished manicure. Barry M Base & Top Coat applied first, then the first coat of polish, allowed that to dry about 1-2 minutes, then apply the second coat of polish allow to dry for 2-3 minutes, then apply the final coat of Barry M Base & Top Coat.

Here's a close up, it's very shiny and pretty. I am in love! I am going to buy a new colour at some point! I have just loved this one so much, I'm sure I'll find another colour to love on!

Have you used Barry M Gelly Nail Paints? What did you think? Have you tried any of Barry M's other products?

Zoella's New Beauty Products - Summer 2015 (UPDATED) | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Zoella's New Beauty Products for Summer 2015

Screenshot credit goes to Zoe Sugg from her YouTube video on her account MoreZoella

For those who don't know who Zoella, her real name is Zoe Sugg. She is a YouTuber with over eight million YouTube subscribers! Born on March 28th 1990, She is 25 years old and is the ambassador of the mental health charity Mind. Zoe suffers with severe anxiety and depression. She has admitted there are days that she can't even get out of bed. I look up to her, as I also suffer with severe anxiety and severe depression, which I am beginning to get treatment for. She has been a huge inspiration to me to get treatment, and she is an amazing example of how amazing you can be, even with her daily struggles. I think the video that made me realise that I need to get help, and Zoe doesn't have perfect days every day is the one - please watch (Disclaimer - Emotional trigger - very sad but very powerful) I am a huge fan, and I am hoping to meet her very soon at a meet up or a book signing. I contacted my PA and they got in contact with Zoe's agent, and her agent is going to contact my PA when dates are announced. SUPER EXCITING - Anyway, on to the beautiful products.. Wanted to share this with you!

Okay, so I don't know if you saw Zoella's new video showing her fans her new beautiful products being released July 6th 2015! (Update: They've been released and can be purchased here)

I am super excited and cannot wait! I own some of her products mentioned in this blog and have loved them so much! They are amazing and so much better than I ever expected. They are extremely affordable, and they look and smell amazing!

Zoe mentioned in her new video that her new products are going to be affordable as well, which is great. She has a lot of young fans who don't have jobs and a lot of money so that just shows how devoted she is to her fans - and isn't just in this to line her pockets.

So, there are seven new products coming out. They apparently smell fruity and fresh (Zoe described them as a Tootie-Fruiti kind of smell!

The 'Candy Cream Softening Body Lotion' and the 'Scrubbing Me Softly Smoothing Body Scrub' both have bursting beads in them which is exciting! I love bursting beads, so I'm extremely excited for these, and will be adding them to my collection.
The 'Scrubbing Me Softly Body Scrub' costs £7 and the you get 280grams in the lovely, pretty pot. And the 'Candy Cream Softening Body Lotion' is £5, which is in a 160ml tube.

The 'Let's Spritz' body mist is "more like a perfume" in Zoe's words. She had a list of things she wanted for all her products and this was one of the things she wanted! Once again, affordable for her younger fans! The bottle has a white lace design on the back of the bottle and polka dots on the lid. The design is extremely cute. The 'Let's Spritz' body mist costs £8. The bottle is 45ml.

I was excited when I saw the 'Kissy Missy Lip Balm'. Zoe mentioned that this product is "highly pigmented" and is "barbie coloured" - it's really cute, and I cannot wait to try this product. The 'Kissy Missy Lip Balm' costs £3.

Zoe didn't mention much about the 'Foam Sweet Foam Cleansing Shower Gel' - I can only guess it smells the same as the rest of the range. The pink and the baby blue design on the bottle is so gorgeous! The 'Foam Sweet Foam Cleansing Shower Gel' costs £3.50! Bargain! The bottle is 250ml.

I thought the 'Cosmetic/Coin Purse' would be great for travelling with. It's the perfect size and so cute! I may get it, to go with the other Zoella bag I own - if you want to see which one it can be viewed here. The 'Cosmetic/Coin Purse' costs £6.

And finally, the 'Fresh Fizz Fragranced Bar Fizzer' - I haven't tried the 'Fizz Bar' yet and I really want to. Zoe mentioned that this was her most popular and best selling product! Which is amazing! There are three large bars in this one, unlike the 'Fizz Bar' which is six small pieces! I'm really looking forward to trying this. The 'Fresh Fizz Fragranced Bar Fizzer' costs £6.

You can buy the whole range for £35, which is a saving of £2.50. I was honestly quite disappointed in the bundle price deal, as I thought a £2.50 saving really isn't much. Not that I can't afford it, I was thinking more for the younger fans who don't get much pocket money or an allowance.

You can also buy her products on FeelUnique - including the Zoella Beauty Bath Lilly. Which costs £3.

Here's an article from Glamour Magazine about the new products - Please take a read!

Are you going to be trying these products? Have you tried Zoella's other beauty products? What did you think?

Barry M Lip Paint in Shade 52 - 'Shocking Pink' | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Barry M Lip Paint in Shade 52 - 'Shocking Pink'

Okay, so this one is a bit mad! I bought it for an eighties night, and needed something dramatic and very POW! And this shade is.

I'd heard a lot about Barry M's lip paints. I use their nail polishes and I love them, so I thought I'd give this a shot! It costs £4.49 but I got it on a sale for £2.99.

It is highly pigmented and quite... Neon! Great for an eighties night, or if you're brave on a night out!

So the lid has the Barry M logo on it, in gold. The packaging is matte black and is average sized.

And as mentioned, the shade is 52 which is 'Shocking Pink' which I looked up online, because it's not mentioned on the product.

Here's the product on my hand. Very pigmented and very pink! It is quite moisturising, which is nice!

All in all I liked how moisturising this product was. I would probably only wear it to an eighties night or something like that, I'm not that brave! I'd like to try more Barry M Lip Paints, in more nude colours. When I do I will definitely post about it.

Have you tried any of Barry M's Lip Stains? What did you think? What shade would you recommend?

Thank you for reading!

Ro's Argan Oil Body Conditioner from Lush | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Ro's Argan Oil Body Conditioner from Lush

I have been using this amazing body conditioner for around six months. The reviews are very mixed on it, because it leaves a greasy feeling sort of film layer on your skin, but I've found if you remove it properly I've had no problem with this. It comes in a 225gram pot which costs £16.50. The Lush website describes it as:

"This is chock-a-block with delicious butters and oils to leave your skin looking plumped up, gorgeous, and smelling of roses. Take this into the shower or bath, massage over wet skin and rinse off just as you would a hair conditioner. We've used deeply nourishing argan oil, which is thought to have anti-ageing properties as it's rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and added brazil nut and almond oils as well as cocoa, shea and cupuaçu butters to leave your skin supple and radiant."

The rose smell is amazing. It is the best in-bath or in-shower moisturiser I have ever used.

As you can see in six months I'm half way through the pot. You don't need a lot, a little goes a long way. It is deeply nourishing and moisturising and leaves you feeling clean and fresh. I use it on my arms and legs, and sometimes my chest.

It has a thick consistency and is a light peach colour. You apply it to wet skin, rub it all over with your hands, rinse off and then towel dry the areas gently, they actually recommend dapping the areas dry.

My boyfriend bought this for me as a present, I'd seen it a few times and loved the smell. £16.50 may seem a lot, but the deep nourishment you get is completely worth it.

When the pot runs out, I will be buying more! It's one of my favourite Lush products and when I've had friends stay over I've invited them to use it in the shower!

Have you used this product? What did you think? What is your favourite Lush product?

Twilight Bath Bomb | Lisa's Beauty Spot

Twilight Bath Bomb from Lush

Hey everyone! I've been using Lush products for about a year now and I honestly love them! My favourite being bath bombs! I bought a load of bath bombs whilst I was in America back in February and March, and still have loads left... So when I use them, I'll blog!

This is the Twilight Bath Bomb. I went on the Lush website to see if I could find the description for it. Lush says:

"If sleep is evading you, this combination of essential oils will help get you ready for a good night's rest. As Twilight dissolves, it turns from the colour of the setting sun and gets darker, turning your water a shimmering deep purple. The fragrance has been designed to help you sleep: lavender is a soothing, mind-clearing and calming fragrance, used in aromatherapy to treat insomnia and aid restful sleep, while benzoin and tonka call to mind a milky caramel malt drink."

I do struggle with sleeping quite a bit, I mentioned this to one of the lovely ladies in Lush, this was about 6 months ago now. She asked if I prefer baths or showers, I said baths because I find them more relaxing and much easier to wind down before bedtime. She then suggested the Twilight Bath Bomb. Priced at £3.35, it is quite big and smells beautiful. I was cheeky and bought 3 of these in America.

This is probably one of my favourite bath bombs, period. I love it more and more each time I use it. It does help me wind down.

Normally, I'll run the bath - get in and drop the bomb in and let it dissolve around me. But, because I wanted to blog I ran the bath and dropped the bomb in before getting in. I have some pictures!

Here's a close up. As you can see it has star shapes and moons on it. Very pretty!

This is when I first dropped it in, as you can see it's foamy already.

It takes about a minute then it starts to explode into a beautiful, foamy ballistic. It's very pretty to watch and the pinky-purple is gorgeous!

This was when the blue started coming out. It smells like lavender and Ylang Ylang oil. As you can see, it makes the water look beautiful.

It almost dances around the bath tub. I will say however, it does take a very long time for it to completely dissolve on it's own. I timed it at around twenty minutes. Which isn't a problem for me as it looks so pretty and it's interesting to watch all the colours come dancing out.

And here it is fully dissolved, with just a few small pieces left. The water goes a beautiful lilac colour, with some tiny glitter specs. I was skeptical about buying a product that says it helps you relax and unwind. But, I can honestly say I am impressed. The lavender is very relaxing and does help you unwind before bedtime. If I could have a lifetime supply of these, I so would!

I would recommend this to anyone who likes Lush products, (who doesn't?!) someone wants something to help them relax before bedtime and someone who would like a bath time treat.

Lush is amazing, and I will be posting a lot more about their products over the next few days.

Have you used the Twilight Bath Bomb? What's your favourite Lush product? What Lush product would you recommend?

Thank you for reading!

My Dermalogica Mini Travel Collection | Lisa's Beauty Spot

My Dermalogica Travel Mini's Collection

Hey everyone! I've been using Dermalogica products now for about 2 years. I found it so great and really good for my skin. I was quite worried about the price at first, so I went for the mini's to test them out, and to see if they really do what they say on the bottle. And ALAS! They do!

I had my first Dermalogica facial done in Leeds, when I was living there. It was done in Harvey Nichols, and for £20 it was a bargain. They used the Ultra Calming products, including the Ultracalming Cleanser which is a fantastic product, if you're ever around one of the Dermalogica little shop, stall things (usually in big shopping centres like Westfield, London) I'd seriously recommend having a facial. It's lovely and your skin feels so great and clean afterwards.

Okay, so on to the products I own. I own these seven mini's. I also have a few larger products as well, that I bought after trying the mini's. I will write about these soon. So, the seven mini's I own are:

  • The Daily Microfoliant
  • The Special Cleansing Gel
  • The Ultracalming Cleanser
  • The Skin Hydrating Booster
  • The Age Reversal Eye Complex
  • A smaller Skin Hydrating Booster
  • Soothing Eye Make Up Remover

I will write a small bit about a seven telling you what I liked, and which is my favourite and why.

Daily Microfoliant

The Daily Microfoliant is the first product I use on my skin after I've washed it, to get all grim and dirt off. It smells beautiful, it smells like oats. It's a dry product, so you put a small amount on your hand, add some water, rub your hands together and it foams up. When you don't feel it as rough anymore, rub on your face and it exfoliates and cleans out pores. When you've finished, wash off your face. The size of this is 13grams. I used this when I went to America back in February to remove my make up on the plane, so I could get some sleep. It was great. I've pretty much used all this, and now have a bigger one. I believe this one cost £13.50. It lasted about 4 months and really did my skin good, hence why I bought a bigger one.

 Age Reversal Eye Complex

This is my newest mini product. I actually got this for free when I bought another product. I've found it to be deeply moisturising underneath my eyes. The lady who sold it to me said she uses it for, and was surprised how tight it makes the bags under her eyes feel. I've used it once or twice and have liked how deeply moisturising it is, and how light it feels when applied. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it, I haven't used it enough to be 100% about it. This is the 5ml size, the full size is 15ml and costs £59.40.

Skin Hydrating Booster

This is my favourite Dermalogica product - period! I suffer with very dry and dehydrated skin, and when I was having my last facial the lady doing it told me the dehydration had gotten a bit worse and she recommended using the Skin Hydrating Booster two times a day. Once in the morning and the other before bed. I bought the 7ml for around £18. I've been using it for ten months and the dehydration has improved and is practically not there anymore. I ran out of that tiny bottle after just under six months, which is amazing. I then bought the 30ml for... wait for it... £52.70! But, it's the best £52.70 I've ever spent, and the compliments on my skin even when I just use this is amazing. You put a few drops on your hand and rub it on the dehydrated areas, and then let it soak in. You notice the difference in a day. If you use it consistently you will notice the dehydrated patches improve greatly. I seriously recommend this product!

Ultracalming Cleanser

This is my second favourite Dermalogica product, and the first I ever bought. It's from the Ultra Calming collection and it's great. You put a two pence size of product on your hand, then you mix it with water and apply to damp skin. You then rub it in, not too hard but enough to cleanse. You then wash off with warm water and a wash cloth. It leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. I bought this 50ml travel size for for £10.60. I went through it in about three months. I used it everyday in those three months. I then bought the 500ml bottle for £48 and I'm maybe... half way through it? And I've been using it the big bottle for around seven months. I would seriously recommend this product. It's great for sensitive skin, it doesn't flare my skin up at all. I always enjoy using it. It smells gorgeous as well, it smells like lavender and oats.

Special Cleaning Gel

I bought the Special Cleansing Gel the same time as I bought the Skin Hydrating Booster. This product is great for helping smooth out your skin before you apply your make up. During one of my facial consultations I told the lady who was doing it that my make up doesn't seem to sit on my face properly, because of my dry and dehydrated skin, I then use the Skin Hydrating Booster. She recommended using a small amount of product mixed with warm water then massaged into damp skin. You then rinse it off with warm water and a wash cloth. It smells very similar to the Ultra Calming Cleanser. I bought this 30ml bottle for only £5 which I thought was great! I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, as you only need a small amount. I bought this the same day I bought the bigger bottle of the Skin Hydrating Booster. I don't have a bigger bottle of this, but it comes in two bigger sizes. The 250ml bottle costs £28 and the 500ml bottle costs £49. I would recommend this product to anyone who has dry skin, and who has problems with their make up sitting properly on their skin.

Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover

This make up remover is great. It's good for anyone with a sensitive eye area, like me. I used to use make up remover wipes and they used to make my eyes sore. I mentioned this to one of the ladies at the Dermalogica and she suggested using the Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover. I don't wear heavy eye make-up, but I do wear mascara and sometimes eye shadow. To use you put a small amount of product on a wet cotton pad, and massage around the eye area gently, until all the eye make up comes away and dissolves. It doesn't make my eyes sore at all, it is very soothing. It does remove the majority of eye make-up. and it can be used to remove lip make-up as well. I'd say on one eye it took around 4-5 sweeps of the cotton pad to remove all of my eye make-up. I can't remember how much this 30ml bottle cost, but I know the 118ml bottle costs £21.70. I would recommend this to anyone who has a sensitive eye or lip area. It's a lot better than make-up removal wipes. It smells (once again) similar to the Ultra Calming Cleanser.

Have any of you used these products? What did you think? If not, have you used any of
Dermalogica's products and what did you think of them?

Thanks for reading!

May Favourites | Lisa's Beauty Spot

May Favourites

Hi guys! This is my first monthly favourite post! So I started blogging recently, and I've been using a wide variety of beauty products. I bought a few of them in May and I thought I'd share them with you. (Recently updated: Friday August 14th 2015)

Zoella Beauty Products

Zoella Creamy Madly Dreamy Body Lotion

I have had my eyes on this very pretty looking product for a while now, I am a huge Zoella fan! Everytime I've gone to my local Superdrug store, they've always been out of stock. I woke up a few weeks ago to a package in the mail addressed to me. It had Superdrug tape around it. It was this and three other Zoella products (In the picture above) my boyfriend has purchased them for me, without me knowing. It was a lovely surprise. The bottle is 160ml, in an easy squeezing bottle. The 'Creamy Madly Dreamy' bottle font is in a Rose Gold coloured font, which is Zoella (Zoe Sugg's) favourite colour. The price is £5 from Superdrug and at first I thought you'd just be paying for the Zoella name. Overall, I am impressed. It smells lovely, it is enriched with Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter. I've been using it nearly every day for about a month and my skin does feel softer, and it smells lovely. It's great to use after a bath or shower, after using the Zoella shower gel. I have recommended this to a few friends and they have said the same thing. For £5 this is a great product!

Here is the product on my hand, it is white as you can see in the picture.

Zoella Soak Opera Bath Soak and Shower Cream

This is the second Zoella product I unpacked out the box. And another I've had my eyes on for months, the stock levels on all the Zoella products vary. I have used this product for a month, and you wouldn't believe it looking at the bottle. You only need the smallest amount and it foams up really good. The bottle is 490ml and also contains Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter. It is priced at once again, £5 on Superdrug. The smell is pretty much the same as the body lotion, and bathing in it makes my skin very soft and smooth. It makes a good amount of bubbles in the bath tub, I use it on a big sponge and it foams up well. The 'Soap Opera' font is once again Rose Gold. The product is a pearly light pink colour. I would seriously recommend this product, give it a try!

Zoella Blissful Mistful Fragranced Body Mist

This is the third Zoella product I took out the box, I was apprehensive about this one. I wasn't actually on my list of Zoella products to buy, but as my boyfriend bought for me I thought I'd give it a shot. It smells just like the body lotion and shower gel. I've read a lot of reviews about it, and a lot of people have said it smells a lot like a perfume a young girl would wear, and I do have to agree. I prefer the smell of my Katy Perry Killer Queen perfume - this smells more like a body spray, than a perfume. I've spitzed it a few times, and have found it okay. I probably won't buy it again. It costs £8 from Superdrug and is in a 45ml bottle. The 'Blissful Mistful' font is in Rose Gold once again, and the product is a light pink colour. It kind of reminds me of Rosé.

Zoella Eyes Beauty Bag

And the final Zoella product. This very pretty beauty bag. It is turquoise with pink spots. I've been using it as a medication bag when we travel. There are two other beauty bags available the Just Say Yes bag and the Guinea Pig bag. All three are priced at £8 from Superdrug. They are medium sized, and could fit a decent amount in. The colours on this are very pretty, and Zoella has very pretty eyes. It is a peachy pink colour on the inside. I am very happy with this item. I really want to buy the other two. They're really cute and stand out.

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

Please excuse the damage to this product. I've had it since last year and it's been well travelled and used. Amazingly, it doesn't look like it's been used much. I got a recommendation to use this from a friend in early winter last year after I'd been suffering with severely dry lips. I bought this, along with a few other bits and pieces from Lush. This beautiful product is made with Caster Sugar, Organic Jojoba Oil, Fine Sea Salt, Polenta, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Popping Candy Flavour. It tastes like buttery caramel, it's very sweet. This smooths my lips out beautifully. The skin on my lips is scrubbed off and my lips are left soft and new.

This is what the product looks like. It reminds me of sugar and butter mixed together, but just not as wet. I have been using this since late September 2014 and you would think it was brand new. The pot is 25grams and costs £5.50. At first I was concerned about the price, after all it is at the higher end of the scale price wise for a lip product, and needless to say I haven't been disappointed. I would recommend this to anyone was dry lips. There is also a Bubblegum Lip Scrub which is extremely popular, and the Mint Julips Lip Scrub which I've never used. All three cost £5.50.

The Body Shop Eye Colour (Shade 40: Baby Pink)

I have been using Body Shop Eye Colours for years. There are about 30 different shades to pick from. This one is Shade 40: Baby Pink. I have used it as eyeshadow and a blush, and it really works great as a blush. I believe I paid £3 for this in the sale.

Here it is open, as you can see it is quite shimmery, and when the sunlight shines on it, it looks really pretty. I've had lots of compliments on this.

And here it is on my hand, it's so pretty and I'm happy I got it. I'm not so sure if it's still available to buy in store, and I'll be disappointed if it's not. If you can get hold of it, I would recommend trying this one out.

Lush Rehab Shampoo

I wanted to try another Lush shampoo, after being disappointed with the Trichomania solid shampoo bar. It wasn't great for my hair type and took ages to foam up. I bought this in the White City Westfield store in London. This is the smallest bottle which is 100grams which cost me £5.50, the 250gram bottle costs £10.95 and the 500gram bottle costs £17.95. I tried this out and I really liked the smell. It smells like citrusy tea tree. It smells really fresh. My hair was soft and clean when I used this product, I used it as an extra if I'm having a bad hair day. I'll use this, then another shampoo and then I'll keep my conditioner in for 10 mins. I do recommend this product and I may even buy the bigger bottle.

Charlie Shimmer

My final May Favourite is this lovely body spray. I've been using Charlie body sprays since I was 14. My favourite then was Charlie Pink and I still use it now, but Charlie Shimmer has taken it's place. It smells gorgeous! It contains a blend of Grapefruit Blossom, Blue Lotus and Sweet Orange. It is always on sale in Boots and Superdrug for £1 and when it is, I stock up on it. It lasts a while, as you don't need a lot of it. For such a good price is it a great quality product and honestly one of my favourite scents.

So, that's it for my May Favourites. Have you used any of these products? What did you think?

Thank you for reading
